BUILDING PERMITS: Town Residents are reminded not to undertake any building or construction projects without first consulting with the Town Codes Dept.  Your plans must be approved by the Codes Dept. and a building permit issued prior to starting your project.  In certain instances, special use permits or a variance may be required before a building permit can be issued, which may require a Public Hearing before the Zoning Board of Appeals.  Our Town’s Zoning Ordinances are strictly enforced, and violators will be subject to fines and stop work orders.

UNREGISTERED VEHICLES ON RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY:  Residents are also reminded that Town Zoning Ordinances allow for only one unregistered motor vehicle to be displayed on the premises of a residential property at a time, and a permit, available at no cost from the Town Clerk, must be obtained before residents can display their vehicle for sale.  Only one motor vehicle per household can be sold at a time, with no more than five vehicles sold per year per household.

ILLEGAL BURNING:  In compliance with the Oneida-Herkimer Co. Solid Waste Authority’s laws prohibiting illegal burning, Town residents are advised that burn barrels and all other illegal outside burning within the Town is strictly prohibited.  Violators will be subject to receiving a summons by the Codes Officer, answerable in Town Court.

GARBAGE COLLECTION:  Be Mindful of Your Neighbors … The Codes Dept. requests that residents place their trash containers out to the curb for your weekly (or bi-weekly) collection no longer than 12 hours before pickup!  Your neighbors will appreciate your thoughtfulness!
