Located in Western Herkimer County, the Town of Schuyler, population 3385 (official results, 2000 census) is still recognized as the fastest-growing community in Herkimer County. Availability of affordable residential and commercial real estate opportunities and the town government's aggressive approach in moving forward with infrastructure projects such as water and sewer extensions create an attractive environment for industrial development within the town. Working together with County officials & the IDA, Town Officials are successfully developing the Schuyler Business & Industrial Park, located on Drive-In Road. The Park welcomes its 2nd tenant, Schuyler Wood Pellet, LLC, now in full operation. An open house for the community was held on May 17th.
Infrastructure for Water District #5, which is awaiting DEC Permit approval, is planned, pending renewal of adequate RDA Funding.
In 2007, the Town of Schuyler completed development of a new strategic plan, which will pave the way for grant-funded improvements and upgrades throughout the Town.
