Storage Container Ordinance

 

The following language shall be added to the Town of Schuyler Zoning Ordinance Section 2.02:

 

STORAGE UNIT:    Any type of container, including but not limited to those manufactured and used as a ship container, or tractor trailer or other type truck box, placed upon private property and used as a storage facility.  All requirements of this ordinance as to “Utility Sheds” shall apply to “Storage Units” except as modified by those requirements of Section 14.05 of this ordinance.

 

UTILITY SHED:       A prefabricated, modular or stick built structure for the private use of the owner or occupant of a principal building situated on the same lot as the principal building and used for the storage of items other than motor vehicles, and used in the maintenance of the property, such as lawn mowers, garden tractors, rakes, shovels, etc., along with other assorted items of personal property.

 

The following language shall be added to the Town of Schuyler Zoning Ordinance Section 14.05:

 

In the heading, the term “Storage Unit” shall be added to “Utility Sheds and Garages.”

 

J.         Storage Units

 

     Storage Units shall not be permitted on any property that contains a residence for a period of more than 90 days.

 

     A permit shall be obtained for any storage unit placed on any residential property for a period of time not to exceed 90 days. An application for such permit shall be made to the zoning enforcement officer.
